Hoodoo 500

I'm not back riding again yet since Worlds. I've been busy and my knee is still busy healing. I think I'll take the mtb out for a spin tomorrow.

Racing goes on. Today in St George started The Hoodoo 500. 500 mile race through scenic SW Utah. The course passes by Bryce Canyon, Red Canyon, Escalante National Monument, Cedar Breaks and Snow Canyon. Big route - 519 miles and big scenery. One of my athletes Dennis gathered together his friends and put together a 4 man team - The Tri Cyclers. They were uber excited to get started. They are doing it right - RV, chase car, crew, radios...wads of support.

Emma approved of their RV set up.

Hoodoo 500 is a first year event and has a small field. Local based Team BHB have a very strong looking roster. Scott Smith looked happy to be taking the first leg.

The race has not only hammerheads like Scott but some interesting team make ups. I don't know the story behind these guys Team N.U.B.S. On the team roster it looks like a mom/son and dad/son pairing. Ages are 41/11 yrs and 43/11 yrs. Now that is pretty cool.

Emma took all the above photos except for the one of her in the RV. She took charge of the camera and snapped away while I was chatting. She got some great shots! She took this next one herself too. You have to be darn cute to get away with this extreme close-up.

So the race set off at 11am this morning. I'll be following the race live webcast and rooting for Team TriCyclers and of course locals Team BHB.  Team NUBS too.

Arm chair racing. Go, Go, Go!
