About Miles Venzara
Miles started working at a bike shop in the summer of 1994 and by the summer 1996 was the shop manager. A rider since 94, he didn’t start racing mountain bikes until he moved to Durango in 97, his first year at Fort Lewis College. His first race was collegiate tryouts and was the worst experience of his life as he finished dead last and swore “I will never race again.” How soon he forgot about the suffering and was able to gain enough strength to make the “C” team in his 2nd year, “B” team his 3rd and the “A” team in is fourth and final year at Fort Lewis.
Graduating with a business degree Miles now practices the art of real estate and not only enjoys mountain bike racing but road racing (CAT2), NORDIC skiing, tele-skiing, the occasional run and his dog Silo.
Last year was his first year as a “professional” mountain bike racer and he had a great learning experience. Next year he hopes to improve his results and climb into the top 20 overall at the national level.
