About ken

Ken moved to Durango in 1993 and has been riding, running, skiing (Nordic that is), snow shoeing, backpacking and whatever else takes him outdoors ever since.  It was a self-supported bike tour across the United States with a group of friends in 1990 that really hooked Ken into the love of cycling.  After moving to Durango, Ken dabbled in a few races like the Mt. Taylor Quadrathlon in Grants, New Mexico and the Imogene Pass run in Ouray, CO with good results (long term memory of actual placing is long gone).  Generally speaking, Ken doesn’t compete in many races but always likes to stay in shape so he can, on any given day “hang with the big boys!” or at least try to.

2005 was a good year for Ken even though he only entered and competed in two races. He entered the Blue Mountain Winter Triathlon in Monticello, UT with his wife, Shelley placing 5th overall and 2nd in the team division.  At the Iron Horse he finished 2nd in the 40-44 year old category missing 1st place by two seconds. In 2006, Ken plans to race Blue Mountain Triathlon in the solo division (placed 4th overall in 2003), the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic (this year he wants to win!) and finally, the Adventure Xtreme 24 hour Adventure race in Durango on a four person coed team (he and a friend won their category in 2003 and placed 3rd overall).

Ken is super psyched to help out Team HealthFx with sponsorship duties and can’t wait to start training with the team. It will take everything he’s got to “hang with the big boys”! 2006 is going to be an amazing year for this team so be sure to check into this website regularly to see these super fast boys and girls crank!!
